INVESTING IN THE NEXT GENERATION OF MARITIME LEADERS

AMSOL is committed to positively impacting the communities in which we operate and empowering South African youth by investing in their education and supporting Educators!

Pictured with from left, Thobeka Mavundla, Nthuthuko Shange and Liyema Hogana is AMSOL’s Grade 11 bursary recipient at Lawhill Maritime Centre in Cape Town, Likhona Gxotelwa who continues to excel both academically and in her involvement in school and extra-curricular activities which includes the coastal rowing and sailing teams.

Lawhill Maritime Centre Head Debbie Owen:

“Likhona, who was placed 5th in the Grade at the end of Term 2, continues to do well and she is a real pleasure to have in our programme”.

This year the company also partnered with the Eastern Cape Department of Education to equip maritime teachers with the technology required to support teaching and learning by purchasing much needed laptops, visualisers and data projectors for schools offering Maritime Studies and Nautical Science in East London and has continued its partnership with Durban based maritime educator and entrepreneur Balungile Masuku. AMSOL’s partnership with Mrs. Masuku includes a Maritime Economics Teacher Training Programme which ensures that 30 educators attend Maritime Economics workshops to expand their knowledge in teaching the subject.
