LADUUUMA! AMSOL KICKS OFF
On Saturday 12th October, AMSOL hosted the 4th Annual Maritime Industry Soccer tournament in Cape Town. The fun-filled day served as a platform for stakeholders within the maritime industry to come together and network whilst raising funds for a worthy cause.
The soccer tournament kicked off at 09h00, with teams from over 10 organisations participating, including from African Project Consultancy, Cape Peninsula University of Technology, Damen Shipyards, the Department of Environment, Forestry & Fisheries, Lawhill Maritime Centre, Modern Firm Trading, SMD Telecommunications, SHEQ International, AMSOL, the South African Maritime Safety Authority and Viking. The competing teams and their supporters were in high spirits as they progressed through the knock out rounds to see who would make it to the final. SHEQ International, Lawhill Maritime Centre and the two AMSOL teams competed for a place in the finals – with the winning AMSOL ‘Leon Thevenin’ team taking home the trophy. The event was filled with fun activities for the whole family and included face painting, balloon art and a jumping castle for the kids to enjoy.
Participating soccer teams were required to pay an ‘entry fee’ by donating it to the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI). Please visit www.nsri.org.za for more information.
