SUSTAINABLE IMPACT
At AMSOL, we believe that empowering people and protecting the environment go hand in hand. Our partnerships across South Africa reflect this commitment, combining community development, education, and marine conservation to create lasting impact.
In partnership with the non-profit organisation Mfesane in Saldanha Bay and Gqeberha, AMSOL supported a youth development programme designed to nurture entrepreneurship and business skills. Through training, mentoring, and development coaching, young entrepreneurs gained the tools and confidence to grow their businesses and create employment opportunities in their communities. Their achievements demonstrate how collaboration between business and community organisations can make a meaningful difference.
This year, AMSOL also joined forces with the Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds (SANCCOB) in Gqeberha and Cape Town to deliver an interactive Marine Environmental Education Programme. The initiative equips young people with knowledge and skills to protect marine wildlife, with a focus on raising awareness about the African Penguin. Learners visited SANCCOB, taking part in educational talks on seabirds and marine conservation, gaining insight into the organisation’s rehabilitation work, and enjoying guided tours of the seabird centre.
In Gqeberha, AMSOL also partnered with the Sustainable Seas Trust to roll out an Educational Outreach Programme in the Motherwell community. This initiative promotes marine conservation and sustainability through youth engagement while supporting a community-driven recycling project.
In Durban, AMSOL extended its community impact through collaboration with the Ethekwini Maritime Cluster, funding initiatives such as the Maritime Teachers Workshop, awareness programmes, and the Welcome to the Water Campaign. These initiatives enhance maritime education, engage local communities, and develop a greater understanding of the maritime sector among young people.
Through these partnerships, AMSOL continues to invest in both people and the environment, supporting education, workplace readiness, and conservation efforts. By working alongside organisations driving real change, we aim to strengthen communities, protect our marine environment, and promote sustainable growth in the maritime sector .
