EXPANDING FOOTPRINT IN TANKER OPERATIONS

Six years ago, AMSOL set a strategic goal to expand its marine services into tanker operations. Today, that vision is a reality, with the company now operating five product tankers along the South African coast.

We recently welcomed two additions to the tanker fleet: sister vessels, the ‘Pearl Kaja’ and ‘Pearl Kate’.

The ‘Pearl Kaja’, a two-year-old tanker, completed a voyage from Singapore to Durban and commenced service for an oil industry client in early February. Operated by an all-South African crew under Captain Rory Boardman, her arrival increased AMSOL’s operational tanker fleet to four. This was followed by her sister vessel, the ‘Pearl Kate’, which arrived in Cape Town on 28 February under Captain Sikhumbuzo Masango. She began operations in Algoa Bay on 1 March, bringing the total operational tanker fleet to five.

All AMSOL tankers are South African-flagged vessels registered on the South African Ships Register, meaning they are recognised under South African law, adhere to local safety and environmental standards, and contribute directly to the country’s maritime economy.

Operating under the South African flag also reflects AMSOL’s commitment to developing local seafaring talent with sought after tanker competency, providing meaningful employment opportunities, and reinforcing national pride in our maritime capabilities.
