AMSOL RECOGNIZED FOR COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY

AMSOL has been announced as a finalist for the 12th Africa and Middle East Gender Mainstreaming Awards in the ‘Investing in Young Women’ category. This nomination highlights AMSOL’s success in increasing female representation from 8% to 18% over the past six years; achieved through a deliberate and strategic focus on development, internship programs, cadet schemes and recruitment practices. The Awards Ceremony, which will be held in Johannesburg on the 31st of October, will celebrate the achievements of companies across Africa dedicated to building an inclusive workforce.

AMSOL’s investment of R9.4 million in the training and development of women in the business over the last 5 years, support for SMMEs, and allocation of over 30% of its procurement spend to black women-owned businesses have made a big impact in the company’s operational areas.

The company’s commitment to a diverse and inclusive workforce not only enhances its operations but also contributes to the advancement of the maritime sector. This nomination for the Gender Mainstreaming Awards highlights AMSOL’s leadership in promoting gender equality and investing in the future of young women in the maritime industry.

AMSOL partnered with the Women’s International Shipping & Trading Association as a partner sponsor of the WISTA Africa Conference which took place in Cape Town, South Africa in August. During the conference, the Department of Forestry, Fisheries, and the Environment (DFFE) kindly hosted delegates onboard the Antarctic Supply Vessel ‘SA Agulhas II’ where they toured the vessel, gaining insight into the important work she does in Antarctica and Islands.
