EMPOWERING PEOPLE: SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS

At AMSOL, we are dedicated to making a positive impact in our communities and several partnerships support this goal. Recent initiatives gave us an opportunity to interact with organizations really making a difference!

Non-Profit Organization Mfesane’s Youth Café Programme in Vredenburg on South Africa’s west coast offers a six-month workplace readiness programme including training, job preparedness, and mentorship for a group of community members. AMSOL has sponsored the programme and looks forward to seeing the positive impact it has.

A Maritime Educators Workshop took place in June in Durban, hosted by the EThekwini Maritime Cluster (EMC) in collaboration with AMSOL and the Department of Education. The programme aims to provide high school educators teaching Maritime Economics and Nautical Science to Grade 10 to Grade 12 learners with a comprehensive understanding of the maritime sector. The workshop offers practical lessons and insights into maritime business operations, enabling educators to enhance their lesson plans and provide students with a deeper understanding of the industry.

AMSOL has also partnered with the Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds (SANCCOB) in Gqeberha and Cape Town this year on an interactive Marine Environmental Education Programme. Learners are exposed to information about seabirds, biodiversity, and climate change before engaging in practical activities. In Gqeberha, this included a beach cleanup and an introduction to the rocky shore.

These initiatives reflect AMSOL’s commitment to supporting growth, development, and well-being within our communities and the maritime sector. We are proud to support educational advancement and workplace readiness, empowering individuals to achieve their full potential.
